Hi, Fiona Soutter here from Super Savvy Business with this week’s business news update, coming to you live from Melbourne. This is one of my favourite places. I love this culture in Melbourne with all the amazing laneways and cafes and little bars and things…
I have actually come to Melbourne for the last of the Ultimate Web Blueprint events which is happening tomorrow on the 29th of November. I’m super excited about meeting some new business owners who really want to get a clear vision on how to develop a strong online presence.
So let’s get on to this week’s business news:
0:52 – Working only with your best customers
One thing I’d like to talk to you about is how to get the best customers into your business. First thing you need to do is evaluate who your best customers are and who your worst customers are. When you are aware of those sorts of things, what you can then do is start to filter the best customers in and start to filter out the worst customers. So you are only really working with customers who are a deal for you. It is really important that you have a system in place, because we all know a system saves you time, energy and money so why not build a system around your attraction of your ideal customer?
The important thing is to never compromise and only work with your ideal customer.
1:34 – Turning your ideal customers into raving fans
Let’s imagine now you have your ideal customer into your business. What do you do now to turn your ideal customers into raving fans? Of course, we need to start to ask them.
Start by finding out what the makers and breakers are for your customers and most importantly: what are the deal breakers? What is it that makes them not want to do business with somebody or more importantly, what makes them stop doing business with people?
So give them a call; say ‘Look, I really value you as a client and you are one of the people that I know I can trust. So why was it that you chose to do business with me? What are the breakers when you think about our particular industry? What is your perception of the market place and what do you worry about most when you are taking somebody on board in this particular niche?’
Start with big picture questions first, big concept questions, and when you get this sort of feedback then you can build this into your marketing and make sure that you are giving your customers exactly what they want and most importantly not doing the things that would make them either not choose you or stop doing business with you.
2:42 – What are your ‘rocks, pebbles and sand’ in 2013?
So here we are at the end of 2012 and at this time of the year a lot of businesses are going into the celebration mode, are winding down and thinking about closing down the business, about winding it down for the end of the year. But for me, this is a time when I really start to gear up and I start to plan for 2013. In fact, I have already put together a calendar for 2013 with all my important dates.
Have you ever heard the story about ‘putting in your rocks, pebbles and sand’? I’m going to put a little video on this page…
You see, if you gear up now, you can hit the ground running in January! So get prepared, start now and lock it in because then you will have a very clear vision and focus as to what you want to do come the beginning of January.
3:29 – Growing your knowledge base boosts your potential and takes you to success!
The final thing I’d like to touch on is one of the key drivers for entrepreneurial success, and that is investing in your education and your learning. A lot of small to medium business owners don’t do this and as a result they get caught up doing the do and spending a lot of time doing things that really aren’t important to them.
A lot of small to medium business owners don’t invest in their education and leverage off the experience of mentors and coaches or people who have already had success in the areas that they want to have success in.
The number one difference between good business (as in successful business) and those that fail are that the leaders understand and invest in education and growing their knowledge base.
So if you are looking ahead into 2013 start thinking about that now: what can you do to grow your knowledge and who can you connect with that is going to help you to take your business to the next level? This is what I’m doing with a group of very savvy entrepreneurs through the Savvy Mastermind program and I’m really excited to be working with the first group of people.
We will be continuing this program into 2013 so if you are business owner and you are looking to develop a strong online presence and become a market leader in your niche then perhaps you might want to consider looking up the Savvy Mastermind program or at least coming to one of the Ultimate Web Blueprint programs which I will be touring around Australia in 2013.
