Since Google is paying so much attention to Social Media and to internet users’ reaction to content, news and everything that is out there on the internet, it means that internet marketers are going to have to tick this chapter in their ‘know-how’ book. The truth is Social Media is now more important than ever (cliche, yet still darn true!).
There are many entrepreneurs and business owners out there who have already taken notice of the benefits a social existence bring to their businesses. In fact, I cannot put a finger on a profitable business which doesn’t have a strong social presence.
I’ve been playing with Chrome Web Store and found some pretty cool tools that I am going to talk about here, so get ready to take some notes!
If you’re thinking that dealing with SM is time consuming, these 6 tools will definitely prove handy. They will surely help you save time which you can then spend with your loved ones. They’re great to use when publishing, managing and monitoring your social networks, but they also help you to interact with your followers.
I have split the tools in three different sections so you can choose the ones you need according to their use: Time Saving, Interacting with Fans, Staying Updated.
Here we go:
Time Saving Tools
1. HootSuite
I talked about HootSuite with one of my friends in a podcast series and I have to say that I like it very much. It is brisk and comes in handy when I want to publish some posts on social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook or G+.
Did you know that 79 of the Fortune Top 100 Companies are using it too?
Have a look! You’ll see that it has some very useful features such as:
- It enables you to track your social media analytics and it even integrates with Google Analytics
- Provides auto scheduling of tweets (up to 50)
- Create search streams that allow you to will pull up all tweets for a word or even a #tag
- It can be used from your iPhone or iPad to keep on top of your social accounts while out and away from your laptop or pc.
- It allows you to schedule posts so you will not bombard your followers with information one day and the next day be entirely absent.
The best thing about it is that on the free version you can add up to 5 profiles. If you want to add more, choose the $5.99/per month account.
2. Persona/
‘Persona/ makes all your news and social streams from FAcebook and Twitter as easy to surf through as TV channels’ says Google App Store. Persona/ focuses on Twitter and Facebook only so you may run into trouble if you’re a LinkedIn-oriented entrepreneur. In this case I recommend using Hootsuite.
Interacting With Fans & Customers
1. Desk.com
A great tool to keep in touch with your clients through e-mail, web, Facebook, Twitter, Live Chat and Phone. Desk.com provides everything you need in order to have satisfied customers who can get in contact with you anytime, anywhere. It belongs more to the field of customer service, as it helps both you and your team make sure that no client gets lost in the crowd and that every problem is solved as soon as possible.
To make an idea on how advantageous it is to use Desk.com, you should know that big companies such as Twitter, Vimeo, Yelp, Spotify, Bonobos, Pandora and many other are using it and it helps them maintain a total control over their customer service.
2. Present.me
Present.me is advertised as an ‘easy way to record and share your presentations’. It works very well in ‘collaboration’ with Google Docs & Contacts. It is a great tool to use during webinars, when people are not communicating face to face.
The tool really solves the problem of ‘being present’ in a presentation, as it helps you record an audio which you can then add to the presentation. Even better, viewers get the advantage of being able to watch your presentations in their own time – they don’t depend on you and you don’t depend on them.
Staying Updated
1. Evernote and Evernote Clearly
I wrote an article about Evernote a while ago, so if you need more information about it, simply click here.
As for Evernote Clearly, it is an additional tool focused on making reading on the internet easier. We often find great articles which are unfortunately posted on websites which make the articles pretty difficult to read. There are all kinds of distractions (ads, pop-up windows, additional information lingering on the left and right sides of the article, etc.).
So whenever you want to update your info about what’s new in the world and on the net, Clearly will make your articles easy to read from anywhere, be it a pc, mac or tablet.
2. CrowsNest
Put shortly, CrowsNest knows what sort of news you like by analyzing your friends’ and your Twitter pages. This way you make sure that you don’t miss anything important from the daily news flow, without being ‘under attack’ with headlines which do not concern you.
Of course, it can be accessed from iPhone, iPad, smartphones, laptops, PCs, tablets, and so on…
