00:10 Hi, I’m Fiona Soutter from Super Savvy Business, and I’m Ludwina Dautovic, the author of It’s That Easy, Online Marketing 3.0.
00:18 Fiona: We’re here live at the Ultimate Web Blueprint workshop in Melbourne, and we’re demonstrating how we can create content in a very quick and easy way. So we’re creating this video, and the topic of our video is going to be on how Ludwina went about launching this book using a method which had previously never been done before.
So Ludwina, when you launched this book, can you just explain what you decided to do and why?
00:43 Ludwina: Well two weeks prior to launching the book I had an open surgery which is a major surgery, and the date I got the surgery for was the same date that we were actually going to release the book. So that had happened after we had made the decision. So I had planned on having a physical launch, but I didn’t know when the surgery date was going to be.
So instead of putting my life on hold, I thought I’d just make a decision that I’d figure it out later. So then I had to work out what can I do in bed, because I couldn’t do a physical launch, as I needed to have some time to recover.
01:14 So I though okay, I’m in bed here, I’ve got my laptop, I’ll do something online. I’ve done a Tweet chat a few times and I thought the idea of that was really good, except it’s really quite difficult to follow, particularly for people who might not be technical, who were getting engaged in it.
So I thought: what if we could do something like a Tweet chat on Facebook? I’ll get a bunch of the authors and I’ll interview them in that way, and maybe some other people that are also involved in publishing, and we’ll have an interview marathon, Facebook chat type launch, from midday until midnight.
So that was the idea. I could do it in my pyjamas, and be in bed doing it. And I’m a natural interviewer, so I thought that’d be really easy. So that’s how the idea came about.
01:53 Fiona: It was fantastic! And I was one of the authors being interviewed, and it was a really, really easy method getting the interview done, having it published instantly. There was a lot of interaction from people who were following the interviews live, and Ludwina, could you just explain the results we got as a result of that?
02:11 Ludwina: Well I only launched the actual Facebook business page one week prior to the book launch, so a week before (the launch) I had zero likes. By the end of the actual launch we had — I think it was close to about 350 (likes). So a week after that it had gone up to over 500. So that was one of the massive benefits, because we’ve got 17 contributing authors in the book, including myself, they were all marketing their own interviews for that actual book launch.
So you can imagine all the traffic we got in; of course, they had to like the page to be able to participate.
02:39 The other thing that was really interesting, which I wasn’t expecting — you have to understand, I had no idea what to expect from it — was that, on average, each of the interviews gained around 400 to 500 views. Now that wasn’t instantly, it sort of occurred throughout the day,
but by the end of the day, I think the very last one, which was mind, garnered about 600 views, which I thought was really interesting.
So for a 12-hour cycle, we still had quite a lot of people involved. So by the end of the day we had thousands of views of the actual launch itself. And weeks later, that’s more than tripled.
03:12 Fiona: Fantastic. So, there’s a lot more coming Ludwina, you’re creating a product around this, so we won’t go into it further. But I just wanted to share with you this brand new concept that Ludwina has come up with, and stay in tune with me at Super Savvy Business, because I’ll be definitely letting you know once Ludwina has finished this new product which shows you how you can implement this strategy into your business.
My name is Fiona Soutter — and I’m Ludwina Dautovic — and we’ll speak to you again soon.
